2018 Employee of the Year!
Meet Ricky. “I’ve worked as a stocker at the Fort Belvoir North Post Exchange Express for almost 2 years. Without ServiceSource, I wouldn’t be where I am or the person I am today. My job coaches have been huge supporters since Day One. They’ve helped me figure out a lot about myself like what jobs to apply for and how to prepare, and they’ve given me some great advice on how to improve on my tasks at work.”
Ricky participates in ServiceSource’s Autism Spectrum Services program. With the support of ServiceSource Employment Development Specialists, Ricky has found a job that he loves. “I love my co-workers just like my family,” says Ricky, “I love my job because it has helped me feel more confident and ready for the next stage in my life, because it has taught me to be prepared and organized.”
“My job has been a positive thing in my life because I am able to build a strong relationship with my co-workers and customers alike. I feel more comfortable with myself, and know that if I make a mistake, I can fix it. I’m also honored to serve in a store for military soldiers.”
Earlier this year, Ricky attended AWARE, ServiceSource’s first Art Show featuring Artists on the Autism Spectrum. The event was held during National Autism Awareness Month in April. Below you can read the poem Ricky submitted and read in front of the 100-guest audience. Click here to see the Local Fairfax TV televised the event.
In October 2018, Ricky was awarded the 2018 Employee of the Year. Watch the video of his journey now!
The Autism Services Program is fully funded by the ServiceSource Foundation. Your donations to The ServiceSource Foundation help fund our Autism Spectrum Services Program. In Virginia, twenty percent of our Funding for this program comes from your donations.
Last year, we served more than 175 people in our Autism Spectrum Services Program.
65 people secured job placement.
The remains greater as we continue to keep a wait list that may have anywhere from 25-30 people who want services. Your Support Helps meet those needs.
