Our Participation

ServiceSource is proud to announce our participation in the 43rd Marine Corps Marathon 2018. Begun in 1976, the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) was founded to promote community goodwill and to give Marines the opportunity to qualify for the Boston Marathon. Four decades later, the MCM, known as “The People’s Marathon,” is one of the largest in the USA with over 10,000 people participate annually. This year, Team ServiceSource will participate in the historic marathon that has bridged communities and empowered people for decades.

Through ServiceSource’s partnership with The Ability Experience, people with disabilities have the unique opportunity to participate in the Marathon as Enabled Athletes. Individuals are outfitted in specially-manufactured wheelchairs courtesy of the Kyle Please Foundation, complete the race with the support of their three to four-person marathon team.

The Ability Experience is a philanthropic initiative led by Pi Kappa Phi fraternity that works to empower people with disabilities. ServiceSource has partnered with The Ability Experience in several service inclusive events, including an Ability Weekend and for their 2017 Journey of Hope and. In the Fall of 2018, ServiceSource will welcome a group of 40 volunteers from the organization to complete renovations needed at our Neighborhood Place LTCIS, continuing The Ability Experience’s efforts in helping to improve the daily lives of those we serve.
