Building Financial Independence with Ticket to Work

ServiceSource and its affiliates believe in the transformative power of employment. Meaningful work helps individuals with disabilities build confidence and pride, and provides a sense of purpose, connection, and belonging that benefits everyone in the community. We are proud to be a registered Employment Network (EN) partnering with the Social Security Administration (SSA) Ticket to Work program to assist people with disabilities in developing job skills, reaching career goals, and achieving financial independence.

Removing Barriers to Employment

Many people receiving benefits under either the Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) programs long to be a part of the workforce but worry about losing crucial benefits. The Ticket to Work program empowers individuals with disabilities aged 18 to 64 to explore careers and achieve financial independence through employment. Under the Ticket to Work program, ServiceSource provides:

  • Comprehensive Benefits Education: Program participants learn about the intersection of work and Social Security benefits to ensure coverage continues until they qualify for employer-provided health insurance and other benefits.
  • Personalized Career Counseling: Career services help Ticket-to-Work participants define career goals and develop job skills.
  • Placement Assistance: Aid in finding appropriate employers and tailoring accommodations to smooth the transition into the workplace.
  • Ongoing Support: As program participants progress in their careers, counselors are available to assist with resolving workplace difficulties and provide upskilling necessary to achieve career goals.

As a Ticket to Work Employment Network, ServiceSource holds virtual information sessions on the third Wednesday of each month for people interested in participating in the program. For information about Ticket to Work, email: va-tickettowork@servicesource.org.
