New Vocational Rehabilitation Offices Open

ServiceSource is expanding to serve two more workforce regions in Florida

The two regions will serve individuals with disabilities as part of the Department of Education, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation program (VR). The Florida Division of Vocational Rehabilitation provides assistance to Floridians with disabilities to help them become employed.

Now serving Miami-Dade and Jacksonville, FL, ServiceSource will increase its Florida Regional Office's VR staff by 60 percent by adding two new offices. When the offices open in 2012 ServiceSource's VR programs will be serving a total of six workforce regions in Florida, comprising the following counties:

• Dixie, Gilchrist, Columbia, and Union Counties
• Indian River, Martin, St. Lucie, and Okeechobee Counties
• Alachua and Bradford Counties
• Monroe County
• Duval County
• Miami-Dade County

The purpose of federal-state VR programs is to assist people with physical or mental disabilities in finding rewarding careers, preparing for employment, and retaining employment. VR programs also provide vocational evaluation and planning, assistive technology and devices, and medical and psychological testing.
